On June 9, 2008, we played our first 100 Hole Golf Challenge at the Walden Ponds Golf Course in Hamilton, Ohio. This was our first year and their accommodations and golf course were absolutely tremendous. The day was a great success and we were able to successfully play our first 100 challenge in spite of the 97 degree heat!!!
In this our first year, we set out with a goal of $50,000. Together we collectively raised over $90,000, almost doubling what we had originally set out to raise!!!
With the proceeds from the tournament we were able to sponsor three children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Cincinnati.
In addition to the Make-A-Wish donation, we were able to give another $45,000 to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital — Kelly O’Leary Center. Kelly O’Leary is the niece of two of our golfers, Mike & Chris Stagnaro, she was diagnosed with Rett syndrome as a child. Coincidentally, Kelly’s center at Children’s Hospital provided care for another one of the groups golfers, Alex Hauck, who’s son was diagnosed with Autism as a child.
